Designed with features commonly found on higher-priced competition gloves, the OMP First uses external seams, a pre-curved hand shape, and low-profile silicone-rubber palm grip to improve control while reducing driver fatigue.

An elasticated wrist keeps the glove securely positioned without adding a bulky closure, while the straight-cut extended gauntlet provides clean overlap with a compatible racing suit sleeve. FIA 8856-2018 homologation makes the OMP First suitable for modern motorsport competition where current FIA-approved driver gloves are required.

Premium Racing-Glove Features at an Accessible Price

The OMP First is designed for drivers who want comfort and performance without stepping into the highest-priced glove category. Its construction focuses on the features that have the greatest effect behind the wheel: smooth internal comfort, secure steering-wheel grip, natural hand movement, and certified fire-resistant protection.

The result is a dependable racing glove that feels refined without becoming overly complicated or bulky.

External Seams for Maximum Comfort

The finger seams are positioned on the outside of the glove rather than against the driver’s skin. This creates a smoother internal surface and reduces pressure points when the fingers are wrapped around the steering wheel.

External stitching is often reserved for premium racing gloves because it can significantly improve comfort during long races, testing sessions, and repeated track use.

Pre-Curved Driving Fit

The OMP First is shaped around the natural position of the hand while gripping a steering wheel. Pre-curved fingers require less effort to close and help prevent excess material from bunching across the palm.

This design supports a more relaxed grip, helping reduce hand fatigue while maintaining precise control of paddle shifters, switches, buttons, and gear levers.

Printed Silicone-Rubber Palm Grip

Fire-retardant silicone-rubber inserts are printed directly onto the palm to provide dependable steering-wheel traction with minimal added thickness. The low-profile grip pattern helps maintain sensitivity and allows the driver to feel steering resistance, vibration, and changes in front-end grip.

Because the silicone is printed directly onto the glove, it improves control without creating the bulk of a separate palm reinforcement layer.

Secure Grip with Minimal Material Bunching

The grip zones are positioned to support the primary contact areas between the hand and steering wheel. This placement improves traction while allowing the glove to flex naturally through braking, cornering, and rapid steering corrections.

The combination of a pre-curved shape and thin printed grip helps the glove remain stable without restricting movement.

Straight-Cut Extended Gauntlet

The straight-cut gauntlet gives the OMP First a clean, traditional appearance while providing additional wrist coverage. Its extended length helps maintain proper overlap with the sleeve of a compatible fire-resistant racing suit.

The longer cuff is designed in accordance with current FIA homologation requirements for improved protection against heat and flame exposure.

Elasticated Wrist for Easy Entry

An elastic band around the wrist keeps the glove securely fitted without requiring a hook-and-loop strap. The flexible opening makes the OMP First easy to put on and remove between sessions while helping prevent unwanted movement during aggressive steering inputs.

The strapless design also eliminates a bulky adjustment point beneath the racing suit cuff.

FIA 8856-2018 Homologated Protection

The OMP First Racing Gloves are certified to the FIA 8856-2018 standard for protective clothing used in automobile competition.
